Gautam Gambhir ‘ready’ to leave Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2024

Gautam Gambhir, a former India cricketer, is set to quit Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

Former BCCI Chief Selector MSK Prasad has just joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) backroom staff as a strategic consultant. Prasad's hire is part of a larger reorganisation that also saw Justin Langer succeed Andy Flower as head coach.

According to a Hindi daily, Dainik Jagran, Gautam Gambhir will be the next to leave LSG. "After Andy Flower, Gautam Gambhir will now leave the IPL franchise," a source informed the daily. I'm afraid I can't go much further."

Gambhir's return with the Kolkata Knight Riders has also been widely publicised in the past. For quite some time, the India great has been in communication with KKR management.

Gautam Gambhir felt more secure in the IPL as a player after playing a major part for Delhi Daredevils and then joined Knight Riders for a record US$2.4 million in the 2011 auction.

He led the team in scoring for four seasons, most notably in 2012, when they won their first championship. He subsequently led KKR to their second IPL title in 2014, etching his name in gold letters in the KKR and league histories.

Gambhir is now in the United States participating in the US Masters T10 League, cricket's shortest format. He and Yusuf Pathan, another part of India's World Cup-winning squad in 2011, will play for the New Jersey Tritons.

Monty Panesar, RP Singh, Albie Morkel, Liam Plunkett, Jesse Ryder, Craig McMillan, and Liam Plunkett are also on the team.
