Lanka Premier League: Galle Titans tame Kandy, rise to the top of the table

After tying with Dambulla Giants in their first game of the season and winning in a super over, Galle showed that they were serious contenders for the title when they beat Kandy for the second time in a row.

Tim Seifert's innings of 74 off 39 balls, which included 5 fours and 5 sixes, helped the Titans get a big score of 180/5 when they batted first. This was despite Muhammad Hasnain (1/26) and Wanindu Hasaranga's (1/27) attempts to keep them to a lower score.

But Galle's bowlers were the ones who won the game. Because Kasun Rajitha (2/8) and Richard Ngarava (2/15) destroyed their top order, leaving them with 36/5 after the first 6 overs.

The match was almost over right then, and Ashen Bandara's fight 27 off 19 couldn't change that. They were all out after scoring only 97 runs, giving the Titans a huge victory by 83 runs.

With 4 points from 2 games, Galle is now in first place in the table. Kandy, who still doesn't have any wine, is at the bottom.

Galle and Kandy will both be back in action on Friday, August 4, when they play Jaffna Kings and Dambulla Aura, respectively.
