Asia Cup 2023: BCCI confirms Axar Patel ruled out of final, Washington Sundar replaces him, Will find Placement in last playing Eleven?

Star Team India spinner Axar Patel's injury has ruled him out of the contest, dealing a serious setback to India ahead of the Asia Cup final. Axar will be replaced by Washington Sundar in the starting lineup for Sunday's summit match on September 17.

Prior to the Asia Cup Final, it was previously reported that Sundar had taken a plane to Sri Lanka to join the Indian team in Colombo. Sunday will take Axar Patel's place, who was hurt during India's final Super 4 match against Bangladesh, sources have confirmed to India Today.

With just three weeks left before the World Cup, Axar Patel's hamstring niggle—which he sustained many times on his wrists—is a major concern for the Indian team management.

Apart from the hamstring strain, Axar also sustained a tiny finger injury and was struck on the forearm by a deep throw.

The bowling all-rounder's left quadriceps strain has now caused the BCCI to release a statement stating that he will not be playing in the final. Sundar will take his place.

"Mr. Axar Patel's left quadriceps strain, suffered during India's Super Four match against Bangladesh on Friday, has ruled him out of the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka."

"A successor has been named by the Men's Selection Committee: Mr. Washington Sundar. The all-rounder joined the team after arriving in Colombo this evening, according to the BCCI release.
