Asia Cup 2023: Jasprit Bumrah To Become Father Soon? India Pacer Leaves Indian Team Before Nepal Clash

Asia Cup 2023: Jasprit Bumrah To Become Father Soon? India Pacer Leaves Indian Team Before Nepal Clash

New Delhi: The Asia Cup 2023, Team India speedster Jasprit Bumrah is returning to Mumbai on Sunday, thus he will miss the match against Nepal in Group A. Bumrah wants to be near his wife, who is expecting their first child, according to many media reports.

The 29-year-old reportedly told the BCCI about the situation, and the Indian board granted his request. Prior to the September 9 Super 4 stage, which gets underway in Colombo, Bumrah will rejoin the Indian squad.

Bumrah was included in the Indian team for their Saturday matchup against bitter rivals Pakistan. He faced 14 balls and made 16 runs, but he was unable to bowl, which was what everyone was hoping for, as Pakistan was unable to bat because of the intense rain. Consequently, the game was abandoned with a point apiece for both teams.

After almost a year away from the pitch while rehabilitating from a stress fracture in his back, the Mumbai Indians pacer made his return to international cricket.

Pakistan advanced to the Super Four stage from Group A with three points after defeating India in a washout and defeating Nepal. India (one point) and Nepal (zero) must now prevail in this game in order to advance to the Super Four level.

India would move on to the next round with two points if the India-Nepal match is called out due to rain on Monday, but Rohit Sharma's team will undoubtedly not want it that way.

India would like to capitalise on the positive signals they got from their match against Pakistan in order to prepare for the tournament's business end and the much tougher tests that lie ahead.

When Jasprit Bumrah is not available, Mohammed Shami will spearhead India's pace attack.
