India defeated Australia by six wickets in their opening World Cup match with 52 balls remaining in an exciting battle. Australia set a goal of 199 runs when they batted first, mostly because of the outstanding spin of Ravindra Jadeja.

In response, India defeated Australia handily in Chennai's Chepauk stadium thanks to a cool-headed partnership between Virat Kohli and Rahul. With this victory, India's ICC Cricket World Cup campaign got off to a great start.

Rahul received a lot of praise for his efforts in the game. His batting prowess was on full display, especially against Australian spinner Adam Zampa. Rahul made an impact with his tasteful back cut, extra cover drive, and late cut all in one over. He showed he was up for any task, matching Kohli stroke for stroke.

Rahul took a patient approach during the innings, concentrating on rotating the strike to help Kohli reach his century target. Rahul scored two sixes and eight fours during his innings, with the second six securing India's win.

Rahul discussed his relationship with Virat at the post-match press conference.

To be honest, not a lot of talking. I had just had a shower and was just trying to regain my breath. I had planned to take a nice thirty minutes to an hour's break, kick back, and relax. There was a slight rush, though, because I was out there quickly. With a look of relief on his face, Rahul remarked, "I was just trying to get my breath back."

Rahul discussed the strategy for batting alongside Virat and stated that they must commit to the partnership. He underlined that the pitch presented difficulties that needed to be overcome with patience and strategy.

"Virat said there's big help in the wicket, and [we] just have to play proper shots and play like it's Test cricket for some time and see where it goes," Rahul stated.

On October 11, India will play Afghanistan in their next World Cup match. Shubman Gill is anticipated to be added back into the team for this important game.
