BCCI Receives Major Update On KL Rahul's Fitness Ahead Of Squad Announcement For Asia Cup

While names like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shubman Gill are almost expected to be included in the squad, it is questionable whether KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will be re-drafted. A major update on KL Rahul has come amid all the uncertainty.

KL Rahul has not played since the IPL 2023. During the thrilling RCB vs LSG encounter, the right-hander suffered a thigh injury. He has been recovering since then. However, just in time for the next big competitions, Rahul's fitness report is a huge boost for Team India.

According to recent developments, Rahul began practising a week ago and has begun to emphasise his wicket-keeping gloves as well.

It should be mentioned that, in the absence of a seasoned wicketkeeper, KL Rahul is being touted as the leading contender for the keeper's post in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023, making a match practise in Asia Cup a distinct possibility.

Rahul, according to PTI, has recently shown tremendous improvement. He is doing well at both ends, batting and wicketkeeping, and is hoping to be at 100% by the Asia Cup and World Cup in 2023.

"(KL) Rahul showed impressive fitness levels over the match simulation programme (at the NCA) while batting and doing wicketkeeping duties for an extended period (today)." "He started batting earlier this week and has now added wicketkeeping as well," a source close to the development told PTI.

As a result, it appears that KL Rahul will very certainly be included in the roster for the Asia Cup 2023. Shreayas Iyer, on the other hand, remains in the shadows. But clarity will return in a few hours.
