Cricket To Return In Olympics After 128 Years, Confirms IOC

Only one time has cricket participated in the Olympic Games; it was a part of the 1900 Paris Games, along with eighteen other sports.
The authorisation of squash and cricket to compete in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California, was finalised and accepted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Friday.

After the second day of an executive board meeting in Mumbai, IOC President Thomas Bach announced that officials had approved a proposal from LA organisers to include T20 cricket, the game's established shortest format, as one of five new sports, along with baseball/softball, flag football (a non-contact version of American football), squash, and lacrosse.
Following a review by the Olympic Programme Commission, the IOC Executive Board puts the @LA28 Organising Committee's additional sports proposal to the IOC Session.

However, before any of the new sports are guaranteed a spot at the 2028 Games, the IOC membership must vote for them in a poll that is scheduled for this coming Monday.
