At Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India pacer Jasprit Bumrah returned with figures of 4-39 against Afghanistan, limiting them to 272/8 in 50 overs. In the ODI World Cup, it was Bumrah's best bowling performance to date.

With 15 overs remaining, India led by eight wickets thanks to Rohit Sharma's incredible 131 off 84 balls, which included five sixes and sixteen fours. Virat Kohli's undefeated 55 and Shreyas Iyer's 25 not out also contributed to the victory.

Bumrah is excited to see his mother and play in his first One Day International at the brand-new Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after the team won the tournament for the second time in a row.

Yes, it is evident that I have been absent for some time. My mother will be welcome when she gets home. I intend to visit her. For me, that is the first fundamental thing. After a victory against Afghanistan, the pacer from Ahmedabad stated, "It's obviously playing (being played) at home."

"There, I haven't participated in a one-day international. I took part in a Test match. Thus, yes, there will be an exciting atmosphere. There will be a large number of attendees, I'm sure. Hence, it will be impressive to see. Thus, yes, wishing for the best in that area," he continued.

The World Cup is expected to give the ODIs the much-needed boost. The future of the format is questionable in the age of T20 leagues, but Bumrah still adores ODIs.

"That depends on the level of interest, as it might not always be easy for people to watch and follow a longer game. Ultimately, though, I am from a generation that adores cricket. The pacer stated, "I watched a Test match, and that was my favourite format.

Because I enjoy watching the game, I doubt that I could relate to that. I enjoy watching the game in its longest format. Thus, you'll probably need to ask someone who's a little younger than I am," Bumrah continued.
