Gill, Kishan climb to career-high 5th and 36th in ODI rankings

Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan of India were rewarded with new career-high ratings on the ICC ODI Player Rankings chart for batsmen, which has been updated on Wednesday, with Gill moving two places to fifth.

Gill and Kishan were India's most prominent batsmen during their recent ODI series victory over the West Indies, scoring 310 runs in three matches in an excellent display of top-order hitting. Gill moved up two spots to sixth place in the rankings.

While Pakistan skipper Babar Azam remains at the top of the ODI batter rankings, Gill has risen to 743 rating points after an impressive series against the West Indies, putting third-placed Fakhar Zaman (755) and fourth-placed Imam-ul-Haq (745) within striking distance.

Kishan also gained nine places to 36th overall, while star all-rounder Hardik Pandya improved ten places to tie 71st after his performance against the West Indies.

Pandya, India's veteran all-rounder, gained five places to 11th overall on the list of ODI all-rounders, while left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav and seamer Shardul Thakur made the most impact on the ODI bowlers rankings.

Following his seven wickets in the series against the West Indies, Kuldeep Yadav moved into the top 10 and earned the 10th position in the ODI Bowler Rankings with 622 points, while Thakur, who led both sides with a series-best eight scalps, moves up three spaces to 30th.

India's Virat Kohli remains in ninth place, while skipper Rohit Sharma is in eleventh. Tilak Varma of India joins the batter rankings at 46th after a blistering start to his international career, while Kuldeep (up 36 places to 51st) is the Asian side's best eye-catcher on the list for bowlers.
