IND vs. AUS : Shubman Gill's health status for India's World Cup opening match against Australia is still unknown. Gill is feeling better, according to head coach Rahul Dravid, but his selection is still pending match fitness. He has not been ruled out by the team management, and his health will be closely watched.

Due to illness, India's star opener Shubman Gill may not be able to play in the World Cup opener against Australia. He reportedly has dengue, so his participation in the important game is contingent upon his recovery.

As India gets ready to begin their campaign in Chennai, Gill, who has amassed 1,230 runs at an amazing average of 72.35 in one-day internationals this year, is being closely watched.

Regarding Gill's health, head coach Rahul Dravid said that while the Indian opener is feeling better, his inclusion in the starting 11 is contingent upon his level of match fitness.

He is undoubtedly feeling better now. Every day, the medical team is keeping an eye on things. We will see what decision they make in the next 36 hours, Dravid reportedly stated to the ICC.

Dravid did not explicitly state that Gill would be available for the Australia match, but he also did not rule it out.

The medical staff has not yet ruled him out. We will continue to keep a daily eye on him. We will check in with him the day after tomorrow," he said.

Gill will not be playing for India in their opening match after testing positive for dengue, according to a report published earlier by Espncricinfo. Gill was reportedly not present for India's training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday at MA Chidambaram Stadium. At first, the team management thought it might just be the flu, but more testing revealed that the patient actually had dengue.

This year, Gill has performed exceptionally well for India in the fifty-over format. Not only is he the team's leading scorer, but he also finished first in the recent Asia Cup with 302 runs in six innings, including two fifty-scores and a century.

If Gill is still out for Sunday's match, Ishan Kishan might be moved up to open with Rohit Sharma in the top order by virtue of promotion.
