Rashid Khan, the outstanding all-around player for Afghanistan, won over many hearts with his kind decision to donate all of his match fees from the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 to the victims of the Saturday earthquake that struck the country with a magnitude of 6.3.

Rashid conveyed his sorrow for the regrettable event that occurred in his nation and pledged to start a fundraising effort to assist the impacted parties.

"I was deeply saddened to discover the catastrophic aftermath of the earthquake that rocked Afghanistan's western provinces of Herat, Farah, and Badghis. While playing for Afghanistan in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India, Rashid said on X, "I am donating all of my #CWC23 match fees to help the affected people."

He said, "We're going to be calling on people who can help the needy to support us by launching a fundraising campaign soon."

According to accounts, the city was struck about noon by a strong earthquake with a magnitude of roughly 6.3, which resulted in the deaths of close to 100 individuals.

Speaking of Afghanistan's World Cup campaign, it began on Saturday at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala with a match against Bangladesh.

Afghanistan was forced to reflect moving forward in the tournament after suffering a significant and depressing six-wicket loss to Shakib Ak Hasan's Bangladesh.

Afghanistan's batting collapsed in the first over of the event, scoring a pitiful 156 runs as Bangladeshi spinners made things difficult for them. With three wickets apiece, Shakin Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan enabled their squad to dismiss Afghanistan in just 37.2 overs.

Bangladesh began their campaign in the main event on a positive note as they chased down the goal with six wickets remaining and over 12 overs to spare.

Afghanistan will now go to Delhi to play host India on Wednesday, October 11, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Afghanistan has participated in the ODI World Cup twice before, in 2015 and 2019. This is their third appearance in the competition. In the three ODI World Cup editions, they have only earned one triumph.
