ICC nominates Indian opener and speedster for Player of the Month award, not KL Rahul or Kuldeep Yadav

It was announced by the International Cricket Council that two Indians and an English opener are in the running for the September 2023 Player of the Month award. In another list of nominees for September, the cricket body also put three women player on it.

The three cricket players nominated for September 2023's Player of the Month award were announced by the International Cricket Council on Tuesday.

In the lead-up to the World Cup as well as in the opening match of the competition, Indian players have been particularly impressive to both fans and analysts on the international circuit. Two Indians and one English star were included in the cricket body's three-player list for the monthly award.

Although KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav's names were missing from the Team, an Indian opener and a speedster were visible.

Star opener Shubman Gill and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, along with England's Dawid Malan, are nominated for the September Player of the Month award after their outstanding performance in September.

Last month, Gill, Siraj, and Malan performed at the top of their game. In just eight innings, the Indian opener scored two hundreds and three fifties in September. In difficult circumstances, his innings of 121 against Bangladesh stood out as his best. Mohammed Siraj, meantime, was not lagging behind his countrymen on the other field.

In the month, the new ball juggernaut claimed 12 wickets, including an incredible 6/21 in the Asia Cup final.

Among the month's best performers was Dawid Malan, who won man of the series honours during the four-match ODI series against New Zealand. The England opener helped his side win the 50-over series 3-1 with two fifties and a tonne of runs.

Notably, Kuldeep and Rahul performed admirably last month as well. During his injured comeback, Rahul struck a century in the Asia Cup match against Pakistan. Later in the three-match ODI series against Australia, he added two more half-tons to it.

Kuldeep's continued month-long excellence attracted the attention of fans. The left-arm Chinaman claimed 11 wickets in the month of May, including a five-wicket haul and a four-for in the Asia Cup.
