ICC World Cup 2023: BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring Shubman Gill, who is considered "under the weather."
Shubman Gill was noticeably missing from India's training session on Thursday in Chennai, and the team has since reported that he is "under the weather." A representative for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that the star opener's condition is being continuously monitored by the medical staff.
"The medical staff is keeping a careful eye on him because he is under the weather. The spokeswoman for the BCCI says, "We are hoping he gets better soon."
Regarding Gill's participation in India's 2023 World Cup match against Australia on Sunday, there is still no certainty. Clarity will be achieved, the statement continued, with additional updates from the medical staff.
The statement continues, "We will have to wait on more updates from the medical team."
The 24-year-old Gill has seldom missed a practise session in the past, whether it was required or not, so several people were surprised by his absence on Thursday. Gill was not present, but everyone else was, according to the team camp announcement, even though it was a "optional session."
To open is Ishan Kishan?
In one-day internationals, Gill has been leading India in scoring, so his absence may have an impact on the team's preparations for the first match of the multi-nation tournament. The elegant right-hander has scored 1230 runs in one-day internationals so far this year, and he looked excellent in his most recent matches, which included the Asia Cup and the ODI series against Australia.
India may choose to begin the batting with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul if he is unable to recuperate in time. While Kishan might be the better option, KL is probably going to hang onto his middle-order position, where he has been incredibly reliable for India.
Aesha Dhawan and Shikhar Dhawan were awarded a divorce due to mental abuse.

Since Kishan didn't have a lengthy session in the sun but was among the first few batters to be hit, there weren't many lessons to be learned from India's net session in this area. As the squad gets together for another training session today, more information regarding Gill and India's opening for the tournament opener should become available.
A teammate or support staff member is probably going to address the media and give a much-needed update on Gill and the team's preparations for the big game on Sunday.
