India's team travels to Ahmedabad for a thrilling match against Pakistan

India's team travels to Ahmedabad for a thrilling match against Pakistan.

The Indian team, captained by Rohit Sharma, arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday in preparation for their third ODI World Cup 2023 matchup against bitter rivals Pakistan. The news agency ANI released a video showing Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, and Virat Kohli getting on the team bus outside the airport.

India has won both of their matches in the main tournament—against Australia and Afghanistan with decisive victories—and is currently undefeated.

Shubman Gill also reached the city earlier in the day, having missed India's matches in Delhi and Chennai because of dengue fever. Being match-fit for the match is a race against time, so his participation against Pakistan is uncertain.

In pursuit of 273 against Afghanistan, Rohit struck a brilliant 84-ball 131, complete with five sixes and sixteen fours. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli added 55* and 47, respectively, to help lead India to an eight-wicket victory over Afghanistan on Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The team performed exceptionally well against Afghanistan, according to captain Rohit Sharma, who praised the group after the exhilarating victory.

The 36-year-old was questioned concerning the sixes he smashed against the Afghan side while appearing on BCCI's "On the Mic" podcast.

In response, Rohit Sharma stated that he never imagined being able to hit sixes, much less so many.

"I never imagined I would be able to hit sixes, much less that many sixes, when I first started this game, but I also never imagined I would be able to hit like that. I'm satisfied with how much work I've completed. My goal would be to keep doing what I am doing because I am never satisfied and I want to do it forever. For me, it's a little happy moment," Rohit remarked.

Regarding the record he had shattered, Rohit mentioned that he and Chris Gayle are close friends and that they both wear the number 45 jersey.

"The record of sixes set by my good old friend Chris Gayle. There is only one Universe Boss. We both wear No. 45 jerseys, so he must be happy too. He's such a six-hitting machine," he continued.

On Friday, October 14, India will try to keep up their winning streak against their bitter rivals, Pakistan.
