Cricket World Cup 2023: New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson All Set To Play In Warm-Up Games, Reveals Challenges To Get Fit

Cricket World Cup 2023: New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson All Set To Play In Warm-Up Games, Reveals Challenges To Get Fit

At Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, New Zealand will play their first ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up match with Pakistan behind closed doors.

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, hasn't played a game since getting hurt, but he talked about the problems he is having getting ready for the first game of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, which is against England. Williamson wasn't expected to play in this year's World Cup because he hurt his knee while playing in March during the first game of the Indian Premier League 2023.

"Not so much the sprinting; more so the slowing down." We went from running to stopping and then changed direction a few times. But putting it all in place near the end of the healing was part of the plan.

That being said, Williamson told ICC, "There's still time to go with the overall part of it, and keep trying to bank on good days because the rule's pretty helpful in terms of just moving forward with it."

It's about getting as much out of those warm-up games as I can, both as an individual and as a team, without making a big deal out of them. These are things I really want to be a part of as much as possible; we have two of them before our first league game.

To be honest, I just want to get better at what I'm already doing, which is running, catching, and hitting in the middle. We don't know what will happen because the load is going to keep going up. But these past few weeks it's really felt pretty good. "I hope it stays that way," he said.

New Zealand's first practise game will be on September 29 at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, but no one will be there.

It was Wednesday night when the New Zealand cricket team arrived at Hyderabad airport. They will be in India from October 5 to November 19, 2023, for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.  The cricket team from Pakistan also arrived in India on Wednesday. Their last trip there was for a two-nation series in 2012–13.

New Zealand's first game in the World Cup will be a practise game on Friday against Pakistan. In this, the 13th version of the big event, 10 teams will be competing for the coveted World Cup trophy.

India made it through because they were the hosts, while New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa made it through from the Super League.

The biggest men's cricket tournament of the year will have 48 games spread out over 10 venues. It starts on October 5 with reigning champions England playing New Zealand, who came in second place last time.
