VT

In response to the game, Rohit said that the batting conditions were "tough" and that Australia's bowlers performed admirably with the new ball, putting pressure on India.

The team captained by Rohit Sharma made an incredible start to the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as they defeated Australia on Sunday in Chennai by a margin of six wickets. The Indian squad, albeit trailing at 2/3 chasing 200, got off to a great start in their quest for a third title.

Ishan Kishan, Rohit, and Shreyas Iyer all went out for ducks against Mitchell Star and Josh Hazlewood in the first overs of the innings, causing early problems for India. Nonetheless, Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli and KL Rahul fashioned a lengthy partnership to take the team over the boundary with 165 runs for the fourth wicket. With Rahul hitting an unbroken 97 and Kohli smashing 85, India reached the goal in 41.2 overs.

In response to the game, Rohit said that the batting conditions were "tough" and that Australia's bowlers performed admirably with the new ball, putting pressure on India.

"Very thrilling. a satisfying feeling of victory. For us, it was a great way to kick off the tournament. In the post-match presentation, Rohit stated, "I thought it was magnificent, especially the fielding and we saw the effort from everyone today; conditions like this it would be tough."

The first batsman praised the Indian bowlers for 'brilliantly' utilising the conditions. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets for India, while Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah both claimed two wickets.

"Our bowlers used the conditions perfectly and we knew there would be assistance for everyone, even the seamers got some reverse, the spinners bowled in the nice areas and all in all it was a great effort," Rohit stated.

Rohit acknowledged that he was anxious after losing his wicket for a duck and gave the Australian pacers credit for skillfully varying their lengths.

"I was (nervous), you don't want to start your innings like that, credit to the Aussies bowlers as they bowled in good areas but some loose shots as well, when you have that kind of target you want to score as much as possible in the powerplay, but credit to Virat and KL on how they went about the chase," he stated.

Rohit continued, "The team will still have difficulty adjusting to new circumstances in the main tournament."

"Moving to different conditions and adapting will be our team's challenge; whoever suits the conditions will have to come in and finish the job. It speaks a lot that Chennai, who never lets you down, loves cricket and came out to support the squad despite the heat "added the man.

On Wednesday, October 11, India will play Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
