MS Dhoni Set To Make Movie Debut With Thalapathy Vijay: Report
Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on India's Independence Day, August 15, 2020.
Now, rumours are circulating that Dhoni may make his film debut opposite South Indian film sensation Thalapathy Vijay. Dhoni continued to lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and even led them to the IPL 2023 title at the age of 41.
According to social media sources, CSK captain Dhoni is in talks to play the primary antagonist in the highly anticipated film 'Thalapathy 68,' starring 'Master' actor Vijay.
This next film, directed by well-known filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, has sparked a lot of buzz. Although no official news on Dhoni's involvement has been revealed, these rumours have sparked interest among Dhoni's supporters on social media.
Dhoni and his wife Sakshi have already established a film production firm, Dhoni Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which made its debut with the Tamil film 'Let's Get Married'.
When the former India wicketkeeper appeared on the sets of Vijay's 'Beast' film in 2021, he immediately put his fans down south into a frenzy.
Sakshi Dhoni has not ruled out her husband making his film debut anytime soon. "If a character with a good story and a good message comes along, MS Dhoni will consider acting in a movie," Sakshi Dhoni was reported as saying last month by Chennai Today.
The film's cast members, who will star with superstar Thalapathy Vijay, are still being finalised and will be revealed in the following days or weeks.
The film is set to begin filming in October and will premiere in 2024, coinciding with the holiday season of Diwali.
In addition to LGM, MS Dhoni Entertainment has produced three low-budget films: Roar of the Lion, The Hidden Hindu, and Blaze to Glory. Sakshi further stated that the cricketer is most suited for action films.
"Action. He is constantly on the move. What would you recommend for him? If we make a film with MS Dhoni as the star, it will only be an action-packed entertaining.
"If a character with a good story and a good message comes along, MS Dhoni will consider acting in a film," Sakshi had previously stated.
