New Zealand Rope In Former England Wicketkeeper James Foster As Assistant Coach For ODI World Cup

Former England wicketkeeper James Foster has been joined to New Zealand's ODI World Cup coaching team, while former England batter Ian Bell has also been added to the support for the next series before the premier competition.

Foster will assist England's head coach Gary Stead in one-day internationals and will also travel to India for the World Cup in October and November. Foster has extensive experience coaching in T20 tournaments and is now an assistant coach for the Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He previously collaborated with New Zealand in the UAE in 2018.

Bell will join New Zealand's coaching staff as an assistant coach for the next T20I series against England, which begins on August 30. He will play in the ODI series against England and Bangladesh.

In the approaching four months of continuous touring, Pakistan legend Saqlain Mushtaq and veteran Kiwi pacer Stephen Fleming will also be part of New Zealand's coaching setup.

Mushtaq will rejoin New Zealand's support staff as spin bowling coach for the December Test series against Bangladesh, having completed a white-ball tour of Pakistan earlier this year.

Fleming will also join the side for the one-day international series against world champions England before the quadrennial event.

After the World Cup, head coach Stead will return to New Zealand and skip the Bangladesh tour, with Luke Ronchi filling his spot for the November 28 Test series.

"We're delighted with the calibre of coaches we've been able to confirm to assist the Blackcaps on their various tours," said New Zealand Cricket team manager Simon Insley.

"New voices don't just freshen things up for the players, but they also bring new ideas and energy to the whole group, which is especially important on away tours," he continued.
