No place for Marnus Labuschagne and Tim David as Australia announce 15-member squad for ODI World Cup 2023

No place for Marnus Labuschagne and Tim David as Australia announce 15-member squad for ODI World Cup 2023

Australia has picked a 15-person team for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. Star pacer Patrick Cummins will lead the team. The most interesting thing about the team is that Marnus Labuschagne isn't on it.

Along with Steven Smith, Labuschagne is a key part of the team's attack in Test cricket. Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Sean Abbott, and Ashton Agar are just some of the all-rounders on the team.

Labuschagne will play in the upcoming five-match ODI series against South Africa. He would like to show the managers how wrong they are by having a string of good games.

But teams still have until September 28 to make changes to their teams, in case a player gets hurt or for some other reason. Cummins will be in charge of the team, and Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, who are also pacers, will help him in the Indian region.

The Aussies look dangerous because they have top-notch players in every position. With spin bowlers like Glenn Maxwell and Ashton Agar and fast bowlers like Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green, the Aussies have a lot of variety in their team, which will give them a lot of choices when the tournament starts on October 5.

The five-time world winners have two wicket-keepers: Josh Inglis and Alex Carey. Carey has been doing a good job in the role lately, so the team is likely to trust him with the gloves.

After playing the Proteas in a five-match ODI series starting on September 7, Australia will fly to India for a three-match ODI series. On October 8, they will play the Men in Blue in Chennai to start their World Cup quest.
