ODI World Cup 2023: Despite Win Agains Australia, Team India is Not In top four, Take A Look At Points Table

Australia's World Cup journey got off to a rough start on Sunday when they lost to India in their opening game in Chennai. This was the first time Australia has lost their tournament opener since 1992.

On October 8, 2018, the Indian team beat Australia by six wickets in a thrilling opening match of the World Cup.

The game took place at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, which is known for being good for spin bowlers. India played very well in every area, which earned them two important points in the event.

Even though India took some early hits while trying to reach their goal of 200 runs, their middle order stepped up and helped them move up to fifth place in the points table out of the ten teams that played.

Indian, on the other hand, are still at the bottom of the list of wins after the first round of play because of their net run rate.

New Zealand is currently in first place in the points table. They came in second place in the last tournament. They are at the top after a great nine-wicket win over England. They scored 2.149 runs per over while chasing a 283-run target in just 36.2 overs, which is an impressive net run rate.

South Africa is in second place after beating Sri Lanka by 102 runs and holding them to a huge total of 428 runs in their first game of the event.

Defending champions England, on the other hand, are at the bottom of the table after losing badly to last year's runners-up New Zealand in the first game of the event in Ahmedabad on October 5.

Australia, Afghanistan, the Netherlands, and Sri Lanka will all be trying to get their first wins in the second game as the event goes on.

In Match 6, New Zealand will play the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. They will be trying to keep their lead at the top.
