Team India enjoys a relaxed day ahead of Asia Cup opener against Pakistan
The Indian cricket team went to Kandy on Thursday to relax and spend time together before their much-anticipated Asia Cup opener on September 2 against their biggest enemies, Pakistan. The players had a great day of fun, which helped them get ready for the tough competition that was coming up.
By posting a group photo on the social media site X, senior pacer Mohammed Shami gave fans an inside look at how they spend their free time.
The picture shows Shami with five of his teammates: pace sensation Mohammed Siraj, bright young talent Tilak Varma, expert batter Suryakumar Yadav, and versatile all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
On the picture, Shami wrote, "A fun and easy day with the boys in Kandy today. So happy to be back with this fun group! Come on! Asia Cup #TeamIndia."
Wednesday, the Indian team came to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023. But they will miss star hitter KL Rahul in their first game of the season against Pakistan. Rahul is working hard to get over a small injury after coming back from an injury.
Coach Rahul Dravid said at a press meeting that he will stay under the watch of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) until September 4.
In the group stage of the competition, Pakistan, India, and Nepal are in Group A, and Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka are in Group B. The Asia Cup 2023 will use a hybrid model. Pakistan will hold four games at two different locations, and Sri Lanka will be in charge of hosting the other games.
The first group stage matches will end on September 6 with the start of the Super Fours stage, which is expected to make the game more intense. The best two teams from the Super Fours will face off in the final on September 17 in Colombo. This is the most important part of the event.
