An eagerly awaited update on his knee injury and his expected return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024 with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been provided by the legendary former captain of India, MS Dhoni. After leading CSK to their fifth IPL championship in 2023, Dhoni's on-field appearances were limited due to a knee injury that plagued him the entire season. Dhoni had knee surgery after CSK's successful campaign, and he has since disclosed that his recuperation is going well.

The 42-year-old icon revealed on October 26 at an event in Bengaluru that he has been told by his doctors he will feel better by November. Additionally, he disclosed that the surgery on his knee was successful, and he is currently receiving rehabilitation.

Dhoni made it clear during the event that he was officially retired from international cricket, but he was still affiliated with the Chennai Super Kings. The audience was ecstatic about this distinction, especially the CSK supporters who had been hoping that Dhoni would stay in the IPL.

The conversation then shifted to Dhoni's knee injury, and his enthusiastic update delighted the fans. The fact that Dhoni is getting closer to being fully fit is encouraging for CSK's chances in the forthcoming IPL season, as he continues to be a key member of the team's leadership and output.

"Your knee is doing well after the surgery. The doctor said you should feel much better by November. You are currently undergoing the rehab patch." But there's no issue with the daily grind," Dhoni remarked.

Cricket fans continue to find inspiration in Dhoni's tenacity and dedication to his team and the game, and they look forward to his return to the IPL in 2024, especially as a supporter of CSK.

It's generally the ideal time to declare retirement. Saying "thank you" and retiring is what I find easiest. However, given the love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to see me play for one more season, Dhoni had stated following CSK's May victory over Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
