World Cup 2023: Bilawal Bhutto-led panel to decide Pakistan's participation in marquee tournament

World Cup 2023: Bilawal Bhutto-led panel to decide Pakistan's participation in marquee tournament

India and Pakistan's big ODI World Cup 2023 match will take place in Ahmedabad on October 14, not October 15, because the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have agreed to change the dates of two of their matches.

Pakistan will also play Sri Lanka in Hyderabad on October 10 instead of October 12, which will give them a three-day break before playing India. Because of problems with security on the first day of the Navratri holiday in Ahmedabad, the India vs. Pakistan game at the Narendra Modi Stadium had to be moved.

The ICC and BCCI asked the PCB to change the dates of two of its group matches, including the one against India in Ahmedabad. The International Cricket Council (ICC) will soon release a new schedule, as it looks like a few other games featuring other teams will also be moved.

Also, on Thursday, a high-level group led by Bilawal Bhutto and put together by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will meet to decide if Pakistan will take part in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. There is no sign that Pakistan will drop out of the event, but a story on the Crichistory.in website says that they might ask for a security check in India before letting Babar Azam's team play in the tournament from October 5 to November 19.
According to the story, the committee, which is led by Pakistan's Foreign Minister, will ask the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the hosts BCCI to let a security team visit the places where the Pakistan team will play.
"The World Cup participation will be decided at a high-profile meeting," a top PCB official told the Cricbuzz website on Tuesday night. On the group are Ahsan Mazari, who is in charge of sports, Maryam Aurangzeb, Asad Mahmood, Amin ul Haq, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and Tariq Fatmi, who used to be a diplomat.
