After Aiden Markram's Fastest World Cup Century, AB de Villiers' Record For Quickest One-Day Ton Goes For Toss

In a local one-day contest against Tasmania, South Australia's Jake Fraser-McGurk created history by becoming the fastest century-scorer in List A cricket history in just 29 deliveries. Fraser-McGurk broke the previous record held by South Africa's AB de Villiers, who accomplished the feat in 31 deliveries against the West Indies in 2015. Fraser-McGurk reached his century in the eighth over of the run chase. In addition, the 21-year-old opener broke the domestic one-day record in Australia by reaching a half-century off of just 18 deliveries. It took him just 11 more balls to reach his century, with 32 runs coming in a single over. After hitting 10 fours and thirteen sixes in his 125 off 38 balls, Fraser-McGurk was eventually removed from the game. With a threatening 435-9, the highest total in Australian domestic one-day cricket history, South Australia was chasing it. A day prior to Fraser-McGurk's incredible feat, Aiden Markram of South Africa had broken the record for the fastest century in a World Cup match by scoring 100 runs in just 49 balls. "I went out there with some good intent, had my plans and process, and seemed like everything went my way," he stated. "I've made a few 30s playing in twos [2nd XI] and stuff, felt like I've been hitting them reasonably well but probably not that well so definitely surprised myself." "Maybe a video game or something," he quipped when asked if he had ever played like that before. That's for certain—not in real life." Jordan Silk, the captain of Tasmania, stated: "It's probably an innings I'll never see maybe ever again." Silk's century helped the team win. Some of the purest ball-striking I've ever seen was displayed there, and sometimes you simply have to give people like that your due. It was great to witness even though it was annoying."
