As India's one-month Caribbean tour comes to a conclusion, attention is turning to the much-anticipated Asia Cup cricket event, which begins on August 30. The Asia Cup 2023 was originally slated to be held in Pakistan.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced Sri Lanka as the co-host for the six-team event after the BCCI decided not to send its players to neighbouring Pakistan for security reasons.

The Asia Cup will be hosted by numerous countries for the first time. While Pakistan will host four games, Sri Lanka will host the remaining nine. All of India's games will be played in Sri Lanka. The reigning champions are Sri Lanka.

The six competing teams in the Asia Cup 2023 are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal, with all matches being contested in the 50-over format. Nepal qualified for the Asia Cup for the first time after winning the 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup.

Six teams were split into two groups of three teams each. Group A comprises of India, Pakistan, and Nepal, whereas Group B consists of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.

The crucial India-Pakistan encounter will take place on September 2 in Kandy, with the final taking place on September 17 in Colombo. In the tournament opener in Multan, Pakistan will face Nepal.

Following the group round, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 4s, which will begin on September 6. The final will feature the top two teams from Super 4.
