The ODI World Cup 2023 is going to have Australia play South Africa in its tenth encounter at Lucknow's Ekana Cricket Stadium. In the main tournament, the hosts India defeated the former five-time champions by six wickets in their opening match, while the next opponents defeated Sri Lanka by 102 runs.

After two early losses to Australia, South Africa prevailed 3-2 in their five one-sided bilateral ODI matches played against each other last month.

This could set up a hotly contested meeting between the two cricketing nations on October 12.

The rest of the Australian batting squad in Chennai battled mightily against the Indian spinners, with the exception of a few of forty-plus scores from the seasoned pair of David Warner and Steve Smith.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood both had strong opening periods while bowling under lights, but the Australian side failed to muster enough support to hold India to a total of 199 runs.

In the meantime, Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, and Aiden Markram lit up the Delhi cricket ground with their centuries, helping South Africa reach a total that was well over 400.

The Proteas bowling lineup wasn't quite up to par, but Gerald Coetzee took three wickets to guarantee a convincing victory right in the end.
