On September 10, India will face Pakistan in the third match in the Super Four phase of the Asia Cup 2023 at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo.
India played two games in the league stage, winning one and finishing second in Group A. Pakistan, on the other side, competed in the Super Four stage and defeated Bangladesh.
In their previous match, India defeated Nepal by winning the toss and electing to bowl. Nepal had a strong start against the Indian bowling attack, scoring 65 runs in the first over.
However, once the opening partnership fell apart, they lost wickets in quick succession, which pushed them back, but some outstanding efforts near the end helped them reach a respectable total of 230.
The contest was truncated to 23 overs due to rain interruptions, and India were assigned a target of 145, which they comfortably completed as the openers dominated Nepal and won the match by ten wickets.
Pakistan had previously played Bangladesh, in which Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat. Bangladesh failed to take advantage of the batting track on offer, as they lost the top order cheaply. They didn't have a good partnership till the fifth wicket.
A pair of excellent knocks from Shakib and Rahim contributed to their total of 193 runs. Pakistan faced little difficulty in following down such a total. They easily won the match by seven wickets with more than ten overs to spare.
