India Vs Ireland 2023 T20I Series Begins On Friday: IPL 2023 Stars Look To Shine, Full Squads, Schedule, Livestreaming, All You Need To Know
The three-match Twenty20 International series between India and Ireland will begin on Friday at the Village Stadium in Malahide, Dublin. The Indian cricket squad enters this series after a 2-3 T20I series loss to the West Indies, their first loss to the Windies in 17 years.
With most of squad India's first-choice cricketers, including skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya, resting for the Asia Cup 2023 later this month, the squad will be led by Jasprit Bumrah. After undergoing back surgery, the Mumbai Indians pacer will return to the pitch for the first time after September 2022.
Apart from Bumrah, Team India's lineup will include some of the top performers from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, including MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings' Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube, Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh, Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma, and Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. The wicketkeeper post will be contested by RR skipper Sanju Samson and Punjab Kings stumper Jitesh Sharma, who has received his first Indian team call-up.
Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna will lead the pace attack, both of whom are back from injuries that kept them out of the IPL 2023. Washington Sundar will also play in the series after returning from an injury.
In contrast, Ireland will be headed by seasoned opener Paul Stirling. The Irish team put up a good fight in the three-match T20I series last year, but India has won all five T20Is against them to date.
Andrew Balbirnie, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Curtis Campher, and Joshua Little, who played for Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023, will lead the home side.
