Bangladesh has decided not to bring Tamim Iqbal with them to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.
After Tamim Iqbal was left out of Bangladesh's selection for the ICC Men's ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, captain Shakib Al Hasan took a swipe at the veteran batter. Tamim was chastised by Shakib for prioritising his own demands over those of the squad, calling him "childish."
Tamim returned to the Bangladesh team, although he was left off of the selection for the ODI World Cup. The batter has been dealing with a persistent back ailment.
On Wednesday, though, Tamim retracted his statement that he was eligible to compete in the forthcoming competition after being requested to bat down the order on his official Facebook page.
Without mentioning Tamim by name, Shakib discussed him, claiming that he only plays for personal records and is not a team player. "You are not even considering the team. Individuals are unaware of these facts.

Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, supported the BCB's decision to bench Tamim, citing statements made by MS Dhoni that an injured player who continues to play is betraying his team and nation.
"People may question my ability, but someone with my level of success and wisdom, like MS Dhoni, once stated that a player who is not fit for play is betraying his team and nation. I believe that all of the players—not just Tamim—should embrace it," he continued.
