‘Tried for 15 years to stop that happening’: Aaron Finch recalls his struggle against Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Kumar dismissed Finch seven times, four of which came in a single series in 2019 when India visited Australia. During a Twitter Q&A session, a former Australian captain was asked about the cause for the team's weakness against the Indian seamer.
"Big fan here,why did Bhuvi bother you a little.." Could you please elaborate? "Are your feet coming across?" Finch was asked by a fan.
"Yep!! "I tried for 15 years to prevent that from happening," Finch replied.
Despite his shortcomings against Kumar and other bowlers who can swing the new ball. Finch had a successful career as an opener, leading Australia to victory in the T20 World Cup in 2021.
Finch played 146 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) at an average of nearly 39, and 103 T20 Internationals at an average of 34.28 and a strike rate of 142.53. He has twice held the record for best T20 international score, first with 156 against England in 2013 and subsequently with 172 against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2018.
Kumar's career, on the other hand, has recently been hampered by injuries. He was a fixture in the team until the 2022 T20 World Cup in the shorter version of the game, but has since been disregarded.
