Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan have the edge, India don't look settled at the moment, says Danish Kaneria

Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan have the edge, India don't look settled at the moment, says Danish Kaneria

India and Pakistan will square off in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The 2017 continental championship begins on August 30, and archrivals India and Pakistan will square off in Pallekele on September 2.

The two teams are expected to face in the Super Four round, as well as in the summit battle on September 17 in Colombo.

Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria believes Babar Azam & Co. have the upper hand over Team India, who are now unsettled.

'Pakistan has the advantage because India does not appear to be settled at the time.'

"Pakistan have the edge, as India don't look settled at the moment," Kaneria stated during a live session on his own YouTube channel. They don't know which quick bowlers will play.

Yuzvendra Chahal has been erratic in their spin department. Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja, in my opinion, should be the three spinners. If they need a backup spinner, Ravi Bishnoi should be called up."

"KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been practising at the NCA and are most likely going to be included in India's squad for the upcoming major tournaments," the former Pakistan spinner stated. You cannot, however, invite someone into the team just on the basis of practise. They will have to play matches and should only be added to the team if they do well."

On August 13, Team India concluded their all-format trip of the West Indies, where they won the Test series 1-0 and the three ODIs 2-1 but lost the five T20Is 2-3.

A second-string Indian side will now tour Ireland for three Twenty20 Internationals, with Jasprit Bumrah making his first international appearance since September 2022.

The national team will also be hoping for Iyer and Rahul to return before the Asia Cup, as their backups, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav, have been inconsistent.
