Bad News For Team India: KL Rahul and One More Big Name Unlikely For Asia Cup

KL Rahul, a senior batter for Team India, will probably miss the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka because he needs more time to heal from a leg injury. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer, another star, may or may not be able to play in the World Cup.

Rahul had surgery on his thigh, and Iyer had surgery to fix a stress fracture in his back. As far as "Return to Play" is concerned, the last report from BCCI didn't say when the two would be back. Instead, it said that they were slowly building up their workload.

"It's not likely that both Rahul and Shreyas would be ready to play 50-over cricket in Sri Lanka, where it's hot and muggy. "But the BCCI medical team thinks Rahul can at least get fit before the three-match series against Australia before the World Cup," a BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

"Iyer has also started training his skills, but he might not be able to play in the World Cup if the Indian management thinks he is 100 percent fit. T20 is an easier way to get back into cricket than 50-over. We are hoping for the best," said the person.

Shreyas Iyer will also miss the asia cup

Rahul has already started training to be a keeper. But keeping wicket for 50 overs while his hamstring is still healing will be a bit much, especially since India's Asia Cup challenge starts early next month.

Rahul's health is important for the team as a whole because he will bat at No. 5 and is expected to play a big part in the middle overs.

Everyone in charge of managing the Indian team really want at least one of the two to be healthy and ready for the World Cup.
