Big Blow For Australia, Star Pacer May Miss ODIs vs India Ahead Of World Cup Due With Broken Wrist: Report

Big Blow For Australia, Star Pacer May Miss ODIs vs India Ahead Of World Cup Due With Broken Wrist: Report

Australia's captain Pat Cummins might not be able to play in the three ODIs against India next month because he may have broken his wrist in the fifth Ashes Test. Cricket Australia has not yet said what happened to Cummins' left hand.

The Aussies will fly to India for the ODI series, which will start in Mohali on September 22.

The Sydney Morning Herald says that some individuals who know about the situation but are not allowed to talk about it openly say that medical staff have not ruled out the possibility of a fracture.

Last week, the Australian fast bowler hurt his wrist on the first day of the final Ashes Test at the Oval. He played the rest of the Test with a tightly strapped wrist. The injury didn't seem to affect Cummins' ability to bowl, but it was clear that the captain was in pain when playing.

But Cummins was supposed to take some time off after playing six Tests in two months, including the World Test Championship final against India.

CA is expected to announce Australia's white-ball teams for their upcoming tours to South Africa and India next week.

Mitchell Marsh will be in charge while Cummins is out. The all-rounder is also in the running to lead Australia in the T20 format.

In India earlier this year, when Cummins wasn't there, Australia was led by star hitter Steve Smith.

Starting on August 30, Australia will play three T20Is and five ODIs against South Africa. After that, they will go to India for the ODIs.
