Fan Predicts India-New Zealand World Cup Final, Kiwi Star's Reply Is Viral
The 2023 ODI World Cup will be starting on October 5, with the opening match scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium between England and New Zealand, the previous edition's finalists.
On November 19, the tournament's championship match will also be held at the same stadium. England won the 2019 World Cup, while New Zealand finished as runners-up after a thrilling final at Lord's.
Fans and cricket experts have begun speculating which teams will qualify for the knockouts and which teams will compete in the final ahead of this year's blockbuster event.
Taking to X, a fan predicted that India would face New Zealand in the World Cup final. Out-of-favour New Zealand pacer Mitchell McClenaghan supported his country to compete in the summit battle. However, he made no mention of India's chances.
"Blackcaps will be there," McClenaghan said.
Concerning the most recent development in the New Zealand roster, seamer Trent Boult was named Wednesday to the Blackcaps' ODI squad, which will face England in September ahead of the World Cup.
Boult, 34, will play his first 50-overs international in a year after being named to the 15-man team to face England.
The Indian cricket team, on the other hand, won a three-match ODI series against the West Indies 2-1. They are currently engaged in a five-match Twenty20 International series against the Caribbean team.
