I am Very Impressed With Sanju Samson, He is Ready for ODI World Cup 2023: Indian Legend Says

The former India star Mohammad Kaif has spoken highly of the right-handed wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson. Kaif continued by saying that Samson is prepared for the World Cup games in India this coming October and November.

"Sanju Samson has my utmost respect. Kaif, speaking at the book launch for Amrit Mathur's Pitchside in New Delhi, remarked, "The way he played the last game was impactful and he has done that in the past as well whether at four or five."

India, according to the former Indian batsman, needs someone who can play both left-arm spin and leg spin, thus placing Ishan Kishan or Axar Patel at number 4 isn't a good option.

It's not a great idea to send Ishan Kishan or Axar Patel at number four. You need a batsman (at number 4 or 5) who can play both left-arm spin and leg spin, and Sanju Samson has that potential," Kaif told reporters.

He knew the last game (against WI) was a must-win, and he knew that if he didn't play well, he wouldn't be on the World Cup team. The pressure Samson felt throughout his knock in the third ODI shows that he is prepared for the World Cup, he said.

The 42-year-old believes that Team India will need to play their best in the Asia Cup since it would serve as a dress rehearsal for the World Cup.

I won't make any firm conclusions about this squad or its lineup based on the West Indies tour alone. They haven't even qualified for the World Cup (ODI), and the West Indies squad is suffering," he stated.

But I think India should send its strongest team to the Asia Cup. I'm curious about their Asia Cup opponent and the composition of their final roster of 15 players. Kaif emphasised the need for absolute certainty while deciding which 15 players would comprise the starting XI and the bench.

Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah are just a few of Team India's key players who have been sidelined due to injury. Kaif thinks that India's World Cup chances hinge heavily on whether or not they are available.
