On Sunday in Chester-le-Street, India batter Prithvi Shaw followed his record hit of 244 with another century in a One-Day Cup 2023 match against Durham.
The Northamptonshire opener hit a century off 68 balls and concluded the match in style, hitting a four and two sixes off three consecutive deliveries to set up his team's six-wicket victory in a 199-run chase.
Shaw finished unbeaten on 125 off 76 balls, including 15 fours and seven sixes. In a 24-run 21st over, he pounced on leg-spinner Scott Borthwick, hitting two sixes and three fours off successive deliveries.
Earlier this week, the 23-year-old had smashed a double-hundred against Somerset. His blazing knock of 244 off 153 broke several List A records, including the highest individual score in the history of the 50-over competition.
With 429 runs in four matches at an astonishing average of 143, the right-hander is presently the leading run-scorer in the One-Day Cup 2023. He is followed by Cheteshwar Pujara of India, who has 329 runs in five innings.
