Prithvi Shaw ruled out of remainder of One-Day Cup due to knee injury
Prithvi Shaw, Northamptonshire's star Indian opener, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after damaging his knee while fielding against Durham. Shaw immediately underwent a scan, and the results released this morning revealed that the injury was worse than predicted.
Despite his brief tenure with the club, Shaw made an impression both on and off the pitch and will be missed by the team.
"Prithvi has had a significant impact on us as a club in his brief tenure." It's a shame he won't be with us for the rest of the competition." According to head coach John Sadler.
"He's an extremely humble young man, very respectful, and had been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire."
Shaw has made an impression in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2023, striking a double century and a century in his first four matches for Northamptonshire in the highest domestic 50-over competition.
Prithvi Shaw's most memorable achievement was his maiden double century against Northamptonshire, in which he struck an unbroken 244 runs off only 153 deliveries.
He then hit a century before going on to score 125 not out in 76 balls against Durham, establishing himself as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 429 runs in four innings.
"In addition to his on-field performances, he had a significant impact in our locker room." Nobody wanted to win more games than him, and he helped us do so.
We wish him the best of luck and hope to see him score again soon.
" Prithvi is currently under the BCCI's supervision and will see a specialist in London on Friday.
