Sourav Ganguly avoids Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson in his 15-member squad for ICC World Cup 2023, Here is the list
Sourav Ganguly indicated on Friday, August 25, the 15 players he wishes India to send to the ICC World Cup 2023. The former cricket player left out wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson and young player Tilak Varma, but picked Suryakumar Yadav instead.
The World Cup starts on October 5, which is only a few weeks away. Fans and cricket experts are trying to guess which players India might send to the biggest event at home.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on August 21 a 17-person team for the ODI Asia Cup 2023. The same team is expected to play in the World Cup.
Compared to the Asia Cup team, though, the past head of the BCCI didn't think about Tilak and Samson for World Cup spots. Tilak was a surprise pick for the Asia Cup team because he had never played an ODI before. Samson was picked as a backup player.
Suryakumar Yadav made both the Asia Cup team and Ganguly's World Cup team, which was another surprise.
Even though Suryakumar has played 26 ODIs, he hasn't done well. However, he is the world's best T20I bowler, so Ganguly chose him for his team.
Both Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have come back from long injuries and are now in the chosen World Cup team of the former captain.
Ganguly followed the pickers' lead and cut Yuzvendra Chahal from the bowling team. He chose Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja for his team, and he left Prasidh Krishna off. His four pacers were Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shardul Thakur.
Sourav Ganguly's Indian squad for ICC World Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (wk), KL Rahul (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya (vc), Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur.
