These 3 Chennai Super Kings Players Earn More Money Than Captain MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has received one of the largest contracts ever for an IPL player. The captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was the first overall pick in the IPL 2008 auction and has maintained his high profile ever since.

The five-time IPL champion skipper has only gotten better with time, and CSK have never recovered from an early elimination from the playoffs with anything less than a championship.

CSK suffered its first ever elimination from the league stage in 2020. The 2021 champions were able to claim the trophy after a victory in the finals over Kolkata Knight Riders. In addition, CSK placed ninth that year. They quickly got back on track and in 2023 won their fifth IPL championship.

Thanks to CSK's success, MS Dhoni has amassed considerable wealth, although he is no longer the team's highest-paid player.

In reality, he is the Yellow Army's fourth greatest earner. Three members of the Chennai Super Kings who make more than MS Dhoni are profiled below. -

Ben Stokes

At Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Ben Stokes earns the most money. In the IPL 2023 mini-auction, the star all-rounder was acquired by the Yellow Army for a whopping Rs 16.25 crore. After Stokes's asking price surpassed 15 crore, CSK entered the bidding for him. There were only three bids necessary to secure his sale.

CSK's purchase of Stokes was a bust because he only participated in two games and scored 15 runs for the team. He only bowled one over, and 18 runs were scored off of it. Before the 2024 IPL season, CSK may make a decision about Stokes.

Ravindra Jadeja

Before the IPL 2022 mega-auction, CSK shocked fans by selecting Ravindra Jadeja as their first-choice player instead of MS Dhoni. It resulted in a salary of Rs 16 crore for Jadeja, or almost $4 million more than his captain. In 2022, he earned more than any other player they had.
Dhoni relinquished his captaincy to the team's standout all-rounder prior to the commencement of the season. CSK's strategy backfired, as they were eliminated from the league stage. Jadeja hinted that he would be departing the franchise after IPL 2022. But he stayed with CSK and was instrumental in their sixth Indian Premier League championship.

Deepak Chahar

The CSK front office went into serious debt to acquire Deepak Chahar in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. CSK paid the largest buy in the history of the Indian Premier League auction to acquire him.

As a result of his injury on the way to IPL 2022, Chahar will miss the entire tournament. Even in IPL 2023, he had fitness issues that kept him out of action for nearly a month. Once Chahar got back into the lineup, there was no stopping CSK, and they went on to win their fifth IPL championship.
