'Bachpan Se Jo Akhbar Padha Hai, Wo Bhi Fake News Chaapne Lage': Virat Kohli Slams Leading Indian Daily

Virat Kohli is the most-followed athlete on Instagram, with 257 million followers and climbing.

He frequently shares pictures and photos on his official accounts, which quickly go viral. However, the great Indian hitter has recently began to speak out against misleading reports about him.

Days after dismissing rumours that he and his wife Anushka Sharma were planning to 'construct a cricket pitch' at their Alibaug home, Kohli dismissed another allegation on Tuesday.

"Bachpan se jo akhbar Padha hai, wo bhi fake news chaapne lage ab (Newspaper that I've been reading since childhood has also started putting out fake news)," Kohli tweeted, sharing a screenshot of the piece.

According to a top national daily, Anushka and Virat spent Rs 19.24 crore on an 8-acre plot of property in Alibaug to build a farmhouse.

According to another publishing house, Virat was determined to have a cricket pitch on the property and is directly involved in the minute elements of the building.

Earlier this week, various media outlets reported that Kohli charges INR 11.45 crore each Instagram post. However, the former Indian captain broke his silence on his earnings via social media and dismissed every report that circulated.

On his official X account on Saturday morning, Kohli stated that while he is grateful for everything he has in life, the reports about his social media earnings are incorrect.

"While I am grateful and indebted to all that I've received in life, the news that has been making the rounds about my social media earnings is not true," Kohli wrote on Facebook.

Virat Kohli, who was rested for the T20I series against the West Indies, has returned home and is preparing for the upcoming Asia Cup, which begins on August 30. On September 2, India will kick off their campaign against archrival Pakistan at Pallekele.
