Viacom18 wins BCCI media rights for both digital and television broadcast

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) approved Viacom18 Media the media rights to broadcast India's home international matches for the 2023-27 cycle on Thursday, August 31. For the next five years, Reliance-backed electronic behemoths will stream Team India's matches digitally and on television.

All matches will be live streamed online by JioCinema, while Sports18 will broadcast them on television. Previous official broadcasters, Star Sports Network, will air the Australia series next month and the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in October-November.

According to Cricbuzz, Viacom18 will pay INR 67.8 crore each game (for both digital and TV) for the next five years to broadcast India's home international matches.

Jay Shah, the BCCI Secretary, congratulated Viacom18 on gaining the BCCI Media Rights and complimented the previous cycle's broadcasters, Star Sports Network.

"Congratulations Viacom18f on winning the BCCI Media Rights for both linear and digital for the next 5 years," Jay Shah said on Thursday through Twitter. "India Cricket will continue to grow in both spaces as we extend our partnership with BCCI Media Rights after the IPL and WPL." We shall continue to capture the imagination of Indian cricket fans as a team.

Also, many thanks to Star India DisneyPlus HotStar for your ongoing support. You were instrumental in bringing India Cricket to the attention of fans all around the world."
