'We Will be a Dangerous Side': Bangladesh Captain Shakib Al Hasan Fires Warning to Rivals Ahead of 2023 ODI World Cup

'We Will be a Dangerous Side': Bangladesh Captain Shakib Al Hasan Fires Warning to Rivals Ahead of 2023 ODI World Cup

Shakib Al Hasan, who is always sure of himself, praised Bangladesh's effort in their final Asia Cup 2023 game on Friday, when they beat India in Colombo. Shakib thinks that Bangladesh has the skills to compete with other teams at the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which starts on October 5 in India.

Bangladesh's fast bowler Ebadot Hossain got hurt before the Asia Cup, and then their top batter Najmul Hossain Shanto got hurt in the middle of the event and couldn't play anymore.

In the group stage, they beat Afghanistan, but they lost to Sri Lanka. But in the Super 4, they lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka back-to-back, which took them out of the final game.

"We have an excellent team. We didn't do as well because a lot of our guys got hurt and some came and went. Shakib said after the game, "I think we will be a dangerous team at the World Cup."

The Super 4 match between Bangladesh and India didn't matter much, and Bangladesh made as many as five changes to their starting lineup. "Yes, we gave guys who hadn't played much a chance. "We thought spinners would do well here after the last couple of games," Shakib said.

India chose to bowl first at the R Premadasa Stadium, and Shakib led from the front and scored the most runs for Bangladesh with 80.

Then, in his 10 overs, he got 1/43, which included getting Suryakumar Yadav out of the game. This was a big part of the six-run win. The experienced all-rounder was also named the player-of-the-match for his work.

"I went to work early today, so I had time to spend on the crease. It was hard to hit the ball. Shakib said, "It was seaming a little bit, and it got easier as the ball got older."

Mahedi Hasan, a spinner for Bangladesh, took the wickets of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, who had made a hundred.

"It wasn't a good time to bowl, but he (Mahedi) came in and got us out of trouble. He also threw five overs at the end, which is hard for a spinner. Shakib added, "Tanzim (Hasan) bowled well at the beginning and got two wickets."
