After Yuzvendra Chahal, wife Dhanashree shares 'serious note' taking dig at India star's Asia Cup snub
Yuzvendra Chahal, Team India's leading leg-spinner, was one of the major absences from India's 17-man Asia Cup 2023 team.
The selection committee lead by Ajit Agarkar favoured Kuldeep Yadav (specialist spinner) over Chahal and chose Axar Patel (spin all-rounder) and Ravnindra Jadeja (spin all-rounder) for the forthcoming continental championship.
When it comes to World Cup selection, luck does not appear to favour Chahal, who was earlier overlooked by selectors for India's T20 World Cup 2021 roster in favour of veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is not even a regular in T20Is.
Meanwhile, a day after the BCCI announced the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2023, Chahal's wife Dhanashree Verma turned to Instagram to share a mysterious remark, questioning whether being an introvert may impair one's professional growth.
"I've started to seriously question this now." If being extremely meek and introverted can be detrimental to your professional development? Or do we all have to be extroverts with street smarts to advance in life?" Dhanashree posted something on Instagram.
"In the end, it is between you and your God, and the world is on your side." Thankful. "God is wonderful," she commented in another post.
Yuzvendra Chahal had tweeted an epic emoji-loaded statement on official X (previously Twitter) following his omission from India's Asia Cup 2023 roster, which had no words but was unambiguous.
Notably, when asked about Chahal's omission at the press conference, chief selector Ajit Agarkar stated that it was difficult to fit in two wrist spinners and that Kuldeep Yadav was a touch ahead of Chahal for the slot of a single wrist spinner in the team.
"A fantastic performer, but we needed to consider the team's overall balance." It was challenging to squeeze in two wrist spinners. We can only fit one wrist spinner. It's terrible for one to miss out, because Kuldeep is currently ahead," Agarkar added.
