Definitely a bat first surface: Wasim Jaffer's cricketing reference to first images of moon goes viral

Definitely a bat first surface: Wasim Jaffer's cricketing reference to first images of moon goes viral

When Chandrayaan-3 arrived on the South Pole of the moon on August 23, it was a day of great pride, glory, and success for Indian scientists.

It was also the result of their hard work. India was the first country to land at the south pole of the moon. They were the fourth country to land on the moon, after the USA, China, and Russia. People from all walks of life applauded ISRO scientists because India was finally one of the world's top scientific powers.

Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble, R Ashwin, Gautam Gambhir, and Harbhajan Singh, among others, congratulated the whole country. They also praised ISRO chief S. Somnath and all the scientists who worked on the successful mission.

After the soft landing, it took a few minutes for the Vikram rover to send back the first pictures of the moon. ISRO's main Twitter account posted the pictures. Wasim Jaffer sent a word of congratulations to ISRO and the scientists.

He made a funny cricket joke about the moon image by saying, "Definitely a bat-first surface." I'd go with three spinners, one real seamer, and a player who can do everything.

Since the India-Ireland match that was meant to happen was rained out, Jaffer's comment inspired many other users to make more cricket references.

The BCCI shared a film of the moon landing, so even the Indian team in Ireland could watch it live. All of the players and people helping them were glued to their screens as history was made. All of the players and teachers cheered when India became the first country in history to reach the moon.
