Shaheen Afridi's 'The Hundred' campaign got off to a great start on August 2. The Pakistani bowler took out Phil Salt and Laurie Evans with his first two balls, which was a great start. Both were leg-before wickets that were typical of Afridi because he brought the ball to the right-handers.
In a 40-ball match that was interrupted by rain, Afridi's two dismissals were key to Welsh Fire's 9-run win over Manchester Originals.
After the game, Afridi talked about his bowling with former England bowler Stuart Broad and Dinesh Karthik, who are both part of the team that broadcasts The Hundred. Karthik stood in the middle of Afridi and Broad and made a funny comment on his official Twitter account about how tall both players were.
Karthik, who was the smallest of the three, made a joke about England cricketer Ben Duckett, whose pictures of the players standing for the national anthems during the Ashes series went popular.
At the time, Duckett stood next to Stuart Broad and Zak Crawley. While England's batter is 5ft 7in tall, both Broad and Crawley are 6ft 5in.
During the talk, Broad asked Shaheen what the best way was for him to switch from playing with a red ball to playing with a white ball. Afridi played in a two-Test series against Sri Lanka last month. The series finished on July 27. Four days later, Afridi gave a fantastic performance in The Hundred.
"It's not easy, and tests are different. I think that bowling more overs in white-ball cricket is a lot like throwing more overs in Test cricket. That's the reason I've done well.
