Team India won its first multi-nation event since Rohit Sharma took over as captain of the national team last year. On September 17, Team India beat Sri Lanka very easily in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo.

Mohammed Siraj took six wickets as Sri Lanka's batsmen went like nine pins. The hosts were out for 50, which was the lowest score in ODI Asia Cup history.

Even though the Asia Cup was a big event, it was just a dress rehearsal for the World Cup, which is a bigger and possibly more important prize, as skipper Rohit Sharma pointed out in his own way at a press conference.

As soon as the Indian team won the Asia Cup, people in Colombo started setting off fireworks to celebrate. India's victory party went on for a long time, even as the press meeting after the game was going on.

Rohit was answering a question about how the team has prepared for the World Cup and what boxes have been checked during the Asia Cup before the Australia series and the World Cup. In the middle of his answer, Rohit had to stop for a few seconds because loud firecrackers went off in the press room.

As soon as the noise stopped, Rohit said, "Burst all this after we win the World Cup." This made everyone in the room laugh out loud.

Rohit went on with his answer, but not before making the room brighter.

Rohit said that they had to deal with different bowling attacks on different surfaces. Winning the event shows that they are on the right track, and they hope to keep doing whatever they are doing right in the ODIs against Australia and the World Cup.
